Grace

My name is Eric Bradford and this is my dog Grace. Grace has been part of my family since she was 4 weeks old. She is a very important  part of my life.

After being in labor for over 36 hours and still no puppies, I became very concerned and brought her to the clinic for immediate care.

Dr. Sallee took x-rays and a C-section had to be performed.  Luckily, she was treated in time and we now have a new puppy.

After Grace recovered from her surgery and was brought home, she bonded with her puppy right away.

Grace and her puppy are doing great! I really appreciate the overall care Grace received.

Creamcicle Hunt

My name is Jill Hunt and this is one of my cats. His name is Creamcicle and he's about a year and a half old. Creamcicle was brought in for coughing, which was caused by asthma.

My cats are my companions and friends at home - they are a lot of company. When Creamcicle had coughing episodes, it was really scary!

After Dr. Sallee had first diagnosed Creamcicle with asthma, oral medications were prescribed and worked well for about 3 months. Then he started having coughing and breathing problems again. After 2 visits to the Airport Pet Emergency Clinic, Dr. Sallee recommended I try the Aerokat inhaler with Flovent for Creamcicle.

Creamcicle has done wonderfully since using the inhaler twice a day. He has not had an asthma attack since!

I am very happy to have a medication I can administer myself with the Aerokat Inhaler instead of having to rush Creamcicle to the emergency clinic. (He's much happier too!)

Chloe Pohlgeers

My name is Dan Pohlgeers and this is Chloe. Chloe began treatment here in February because she was significantly overweight at 73lbs! Dr. Ballard recommended that I monitor how much Chloe was eating and increase her activity.

Chloe is a big part of our family. My two children play with Chloe on a daily basis. Chloe loves to shadow the children everywhere they go.

Chloe and I began walking one mile per day in February. It is now August and we are walking five miles per day. With increased exercise and a diet change Chloe is now down to 55lbs.

Chloe's progress has been wonderful. She  is doing great and feels better!

Kaiser L 'italien

My name is Reg L 'italien and this is my dachshund, Kaiser. He is 10 years old not just a pet, but part of our family.

In 2000, Kaiser had back surgery at the University of Tennessee. After the surgery, he seemed to still be in pain so we brought him to see Dr. Sallee.  She diagnosed him as having disk disease and also recommended he go on a diet.  He weighed 23.6lbs and his weight was contributing to his ongoing back pain.  Dr. Sallee prescribed the R/D diet food and medication.

We routinely have him checked and are glad to say he has 100% improved. He now weighs 15.6lbs - losing the extra weight really helped. He now acts like a puppy again.  He is very active and playful.  We are very appreciative of the care he has received.

Simon Ingram

My name is Charlotte Ingram and this is my pet Simon.  Simon woke me up in the middle of the night coughing and vomiting. After a night at the emergency clinic.  I brought him here for continued care.

Simon is my pal and companion.  He is constantly with me; a special buddy and little friend.

The exams and treatment were very thorough and helpful in diagnosing Simon's hyperthyroid condition. After starting him on medication his progress has surpassed all expectation.  He is doing wonderfully!!!

I appreciate all the reminder calls and patience with his case. The staff and Dr. Sallee were always kind and efficient. I especially appreciate the careful and consistent care of Simon.

Mr. Kool Garrett

Our names are William and Mary Garrett and this is our cat Mr. Kool.  He is 18 years old and was a special member of our family up until he passed in January of this year.  In 2000, he didn't want to eat or drink anything so we brought him to see Dr. Sallee and after an exam and blood work, Mr. Kool was diagnosed with kidney problems.  He would become dehydrated easily so we brought him in regularly for fluids.

During this past year, we have brought Mr. Kool in twice a week for fluids and have gotten to know Dr. Sallee, Dr. Simpkins and the other office staff quite well.  Ms. Mary and I want to thank all of them who have worked with Mr. Kool over the years. It is true cats have nine lives.  In Mr. Kool's situation however, he has had at least 3 times more as a result of his fluid cocktails.  He always looked forward to his visits with the Cherokee staff as he talked all the way from home to the hospital.

Even though Mr. Kool is gone, his spirit continues with us as evidenced when I heard his cry the other morning. Ms. Mary swears she could feel him walking on her while watching TV the other morning.

We want to thank the staff again for their kindness and empathy when as out grandson put it, "he went to cat heaven"

Slugger Pousa

We are Marty and Mary Pousa and this is our Maine Coone Cat, Slugger.  On Thursday morning, he was his usual playful self, but by Thursday evening, he was nauseated and lethargic.

Slugger is a member of our family.  Seeing him sick after 7 years of perfect health made us desperate for his recovery. After being examined, Slugger had to undergo emergency surgery for an intestinal blockage Friday evening.  The surgery became more extensive than expected and the outcome looked grim.  However, with expert care from Dr. Sallee and Dr. Simpkins, Slugger survived a difficult operation.

It has now been a week after the operation and Slugger acts as though he never had a problem.  If anything, he is more affectionate and seems to say, "thank you for helping me!"

I really appreciate the care Slugger received as well as the time the staff took for us.  Dr. Simpkins called me on the weekend to let me know "Slugger was holding his own."  And all the staff members let us know they were visiting and praying for his recovery.

Nikki Price

My name is Janice Price and this is my cat Nikki and she is 17 years old.

Nikki is a very important part of our family, so when she began losing weight I became very worried.

After Dr. Sallee did some blood work she diagnosed Nikki with kidney disease and prescribed medication to keep it under control.

I bring Nikki in two times a week for fluids to make sure she stays healthy and lives a long life.

I feel very good about Nikki's progress.  All of the staff here has a love for animals and everyone is so nice and concerned about you and your pet.  I appreciate that very much.

Sammy Strickland

My name is Lynn Strickland, and this is our dog Sammy.  Sammy was bitten by another dog and the bite became infected.  Dr. Simpkins examined him and had to perform surgery to close the gap left by the infection.

Sammy is very special.  He was rescued after living outside through hurricane Ivan in Pensacola, FL.  He has been making progress towards being a "regular dog".  We were worried that he would revert back to being insecure after the surgery, but after a few days of recovery, he was back to his old self.  The healing process had been amazing and except for the scar, he is healing very, very well.

Dr. Simkins did an outstanding job!  She was always willing to answer any questions we had.  The entire staff was considerate, friendly, helpful and professional.  We can't thank them enough.

Jenna Haley

Jenna had diarrhea, bad skin, hair loss and a thin hair coat. She was also overweight and lethargic. She looked so sad.

Jenna was adopted last summer and very quickly became part of our family. We love her and were very concerned.

After being diagnosed with acute gastritis and hypothyroidism, Jenna was started on a special diet and medication. The results have been great, she has lost 12 pounds since her picture was taken!  She has much more energy and her hair coat has improved. She seems like a younger dog now!

I am very happy with the treatment Dr. Sallee provided and the wonderful progress Jenna has made. The caring and supportive staff at Cherokee were very helpful too.

Kodi Miller

My name is Jonathan Miller and this is my pet, Kodi.  Kodi needed treatment for severe allergic dermatitis; most of his hair was gone and there were scabs on his body. He is very important to me and his skin allergies made me feel helpless to fix the problem.

Dr. Sallee began treatment on his skin.  It's not quite a miracle, but pretty close. Kodi's skin looks 95% better.  I can tell that he feels better and he has much more energy now.

Kodi's progress has been fantastic! It's a huge turnaround. I appreciate the caring nature of the staff, not only Dr. Sallee, but everyone at the clinic.

Max & Colt Ainsworth

My name is Jeremy Ainsworth and this is Max and Colt. Both were diagnosed as being overweight and Colt also has arthritis.

The dogs are extremely important to my wife, Laura, and me. Being a young married couple, Max and Colt are practically our children. We were extremely worried, but knew with dedication and help we could achieve our goals for Max and Colt.

With increased exercise and a new diet, Max has lost approximately 21 pounds and Colt has lost around 11 pounds. This has also helped Colt get around better with his arthritis condition!

The progress our dogs have made is excellent! If we had not been informed of how to correctly fix the problem by Dr. Sallee and her staff, who knows where we would be today.

The care and patience of the staff is especially appreciated. Essentially, my animals are their animals and they show it through their tireless efforts.

Tiger Swoboda

My name is Rachel Swoboda and this is my cat Tiger. Tiger is like the child I never had and I love him very much.

Tiger began to use his litter box numerous times daily without much progress and became blocked. I became seriously concerned about his health and rushed him in to see Dr. Sallee.

Dr. Sallee examined Tiger and recommended a catheter to hopefully unblock him and to hospitalize him. He was closely monitored and thankfully the procedure was a success.

The doctors and staff here at Cherokee have been wonderful to me and Tiger. They saved my baby.

Tiger has done very well since I brought him home. He seems to be returning to his normal self. I really appreciate the kindness and emotional support Dr. Sallee and her staff provided.

Daisy Heaten

Our name is Aaron & Shelley Heaton and this is our dog Daisy. My wife and I don't have any children yet and Daisy is treated as if she were our child.

We became terrified when Daisy ate 32 inches of a leather belt and was unable to pass it. We rushed her in and after being examined by Dr. Simpkins we were told surgery was the only option to remove it.

Daisy came through the surgery wonderfully and has recovered 100%.

We are completely satisfied with Daisy's progress and the service we received here. We really appreciate the comfort and reassurance everyone showed us.

Rufus Haws

My name is Cheryl Haws and this is my dog, Rufus. Rufus belonged to my brother that passed away in February, so Rufus holds a special place in my heart.

Rufus started showing signs of distress by panting and shivering. His activity level dropped and he was not eating. I became very concerned and rushed him in to see Dr. Simpkins. She ran some tests and the results came back that he had pancreatitis.

Rufus was monitored for 5 days in the hospital where he had continuous fluids and antibiotics. He started improving within one day.

He has returned to his old self and is once again my bouncing little dog.

I really appreciate the staff who kept me informed and took the time to even call on weekends. No one wants their pet ill, but this is the place to receive care if it happens.

Domino

My name is Lisa Williams and this is my cat, Domino. Domino was a stray when we found her but she has become a special part of our family.

Domino started giving birth to her first litter of kittens and everything seemed to be fine until her third kitten was born and then her uterus started to show. She was bleeding a lot and she could not deliver one of her kittens. We are animal lovers and to see her in pain was so freightening. We immediately came to Cherokee and Dr. Simpkins surgically remove the last kitten and spayed her.

Today, Domino is doing very well and all four of her kittens are healthy and happy. I have no doubt we came to the right place. The doctors and staff are the best and very understanding.

Zeus

My name is Cindy Maynor and this is my dog Zeus. We brought Zeus in because he was vomiting and had diarrhea. He was so weak, I had to carry him in. After examining him, Dr. Simpkins informed us he had Parvo.

Zeus is my baby! I live alone and have no children so he is always there. I was so worried about him.

Cherokee Hospital really did perform a miracle. So many people told me he wouldn't make it but he proved them wrong. Today he is as vibrant as ever.

I really appreciate Dr. Simpkins keeping me updated throughout his treatment. She didn't always wait on me to call.

Cody Neil

My name is Joan Loy & this is our baby, Cody Neil. We brought Cody in because he wasn't acting like his normal frisky self & he seemed depressed.

Cody is our baby, we have no children and we cannot imagine our life without him. He is almost 15 years old and we want him to be as comfortable as possible in his remaining years.

Dr. Sallee diagnosed Cody with an ear infection, heart murmur and very high liver enzymes with possible Cushing's Disease. She prescribed antibiotics, heart medicine and liver medicine. With this treatment, Cody is like a puppy again. He runs and plays and feels so good. Due to the liver medicine, his liver enzymes have greatly improved. It truly is a miracle.

I really appreciate the compassionate care and patience in explaining procedures and other instructions. Dr. Sallee's knowledge in diagnosing and treating my baby is wonderful ~ she always knows just what to do for him.

Gizmo

My name is Carolyn G'Fellars and this is my baby Gizmo. Gizmo has always been happy and energetic, so when he started just laying around I knew something was wrong. He then stopped eating and started vomiting numerous times during the day. I rushed him to see Dr. Sallee and Gizmo had to be hospitalized for several days. After many tests, he was diagnosed as having irritable bowel disease.

I really appreciate the staff at Cherokee. They have always been kind and understanding. Dr. Sallee has been 100% honest with what needed to be done and her prognosis ~ I really appreciate and respect that.

Gizmo is still taking his medication and eating his special diet. He must be doing better because he seems hungry now!

Little Bear

My name is Connie Hughes and this is my 12 year old baby, Little Bear. I have no children of my own and am guilty of spoiling him rotten.

Dr. Sallee has seen Little Bear since he was 6 weeks old. We have always let Little Bear ride in the car with us. Dr. Sallee recommended he not have access to roam while we drive or hang his head out of the window, but he liked to lay in the back window. We thought he would be safe, but after being in an accident we found out we were wrong.

A full-sized pickup hit us and Little Bear went flying out of the window. I just knew we were going to find him seriously injured or worse. We frantically searched for him and found him in a nearby yard. I looked him over and thankfully he did not seem to be injured. It was a miracle he was not hurt. We learned a valuable lesson and the next day I was only too happy to purchase a pet car seat for him. We did have Dr. Simpkins examine him and thankfully he is fine.

Everyone at Cherokee is great. They are patient and kind with him even though he can be tempramental

Joy Silvers

My name is Mary Lo Silvers and this is my baby, Joy.  She is my constant companion.  Joy swallowed a piece of metal the size of a coin.  I rushed her in and Dr. Simpkins took x-rays and hospitalized her.  The next day she surgically removed the object --- it was very difficult and Joy was in surgery for about two hours.  Joy stayed in the hospital for several days and was given fluids and medications daily to help her heal.

Joy is doing excellent now.  She is the same happy, wonderful puppy she has always been.  I really appreciate Dr. Simpkins and Dr. Sallee for the care they have given her.  The staff is absolutely wonderful and professional.  They have always given excellent care.
