Kiki

My Kiki had not been feeling well for a few days; not eating and her stomach was swollen.  She had recently been in heat and I thought that was the reason she was feeling bad.  I tried everything I knew to do but she was not improving.

I took her into Cherokee Hospital for Animals.  Dr. Sallee examined her and ran an ultrasound.  She was diagnosed with pyometra and Dr. Sallee said she needed surgery ASAP with overnight monitoring.
She was sent to the Airport  Pet Emergency Clinic that afternoon.

Kiki's surgery went exceptionally well.  She is a new improved version of her  old self.

Dr. Sallee saved our baby girl's life with her excellent diagnosis, professionalism and compassion.  The entire staff went the extra mile for us.........

Thanks for everything!

Toby

Meet Toby the hunter in the family.  Seems like every time we turn around he is tangling with something.  He is such an independent child.  We try explaining that somethings are better left alone.

Recently I know he wished he had listened.  We almost lost him due to an encounter he had with a copperhead.

Within minutes I saw him shaking his head with the snake hanging from his mouth and his face began to swell.  By the time I arrived at
Cherokee Hospital for Animals his chin and neck were three times the regular size.  My wife and I were very afraid he would not live.  Dr. Sallee and her health care team went to work immediately on Toby.  He was hospitalized for several days and received many injections, and IV fluids.

Toby is home now and getting stronger every day, thanks to Cherokee Hospital for Animals.  The care shown by the entire staff was wonderful.  Dr. Sallee kept us up to date daily on his medical condition and helped us, as well as Toby through a rough time.

Thanks for everything,

Landon & Stephanie Britt

Sugarbaby

She was so tiny and helpless, we could not help but fall in love at first sight.  Her mother had abandoned her and three siblings when they were only 4 weeks old.  Sugarbaby was the smallest of the litter only weighing 0.13 ounces.  She would not eat anything and was very weak.

We were so worried, it was like having a newborn baby in the house again.  She could not tell what was wrong and we did not know what to do.  So we took her in to see Dr. Sallee.  After a couple of visits, Sugarbaby is doing great.  She loves to eat, play and do all the things a little kitten her age should enjoy.

We would like to thank Dr. Sallee & the entire staff at Cherokee Hospital for Animals.  The entire staff is great.  We were always greeted with a smile & Sugarbaby always received hugs & kisses.

Pooh

We did not know what was happening with Pooh.  He was having frequent urination and we saw blood in his urine.  We became ex- tremely alarmed.  We love him so much and did not want to lose him.

Upon arriving at Cherokee Hospital for Animals an ultrasound & lab work were done and  after reviewing the tests Pooh was diagnosed with multiple cysts in his prostate.  Dr. Simpkins explained he needed surgery.  What would have been a routine neutering was now a life-saving surgery for Pooh.

We are very happy with Pooh's progress after the surgery.  He acts like he feels better now than he has in a long time.

We would not take Pooh anywhere else other than Cherokee Hosp- ital for Animals because of several reasons.  Just to name a couple:
1) The healthcare he receives
2) The Kindness & concern shown by the entire staff.  Being a pit-bull that has not always been his experience at other places.

Thank you Cherokee Hospital for Animals for everything you do.

Dee Dee

Meet my girl Dee Dee.  She is the first dog I have had in my life since I was a boy.  There is nothing I wouldn't do for her.  The unconditional love she gives me (something everyone needs) has captured a place in my heart that will always be her.

Recently my little girl was having trouble walking.  I did not hesitate and took her into Cherokee Hospital for Animals for an exam.

After Dr. Sallee examined Dee Dee she said x-rays and a cytology were needed.  When I received the call that Dr. Sallee would like for me to come into the clinic.  I almost lost it knowing that could be bad news.  When Dr Sallee told me Dee Dee had cancer all I could think about was losing her and how empty my life would be without her.  After a thorough explanation of the procedures, Dr. Sallee scheduled Dee Dee immediately for surgery.

Dee Dee had her surgery and now is cancer free.  She is doing wonderful.  Thanks to Dr. Sallee and her quick actions.

Dee Dee and I think the doctors & staff at Cherokee Hospital for Animals are the best!

Thanks forever,
Darrell Percell

Achilles

Meet Achilles.  He is practically our first child.  We take him every- where; we like to spoil him.  When he is not feeling well it breaks our hearts.

One night out of the blue Achilles became restless.  He started shaking and breathing heavy.  We had no clue what was wrong.  The next morning we immediately called Cherokee hospital for Animals.  They told us to bring him to the clinic, Dr. Sallee would want to see him.. Upon arriving at the clinic Dr. Sallee noted during her exam that he was having back pain.  After x-rays and lab work he was given injections and meds to go home.  Dr. Sallee gave strict instructions to restrict his activity for a few weeks.

We now have our little Achilles back!  He’s acting like himself again.  Dr Sallee and her staff listened to us and really cared about Achilles.  Special thanks and appreciation to everyone at Cherokee Hospital for Animals.        Kendra & Mark Meuer

Baby

A birthday gift from my grand daughters that captured my heart, she was so tiny she was given to me in a coffee cup and I named her Baby.

One morning not long after I was given Baby I awoke to find her with what looked like an eye infection.  I immediately called Cherokee Hospital for Animals.  I was so worried taking her into the hospital.  Dr. Sallee was wonderful with Baby.  The TLC she and her staff members show is outstanding.  After the exam Dr. Sallee explained to us that Baby did not have an eye infection.  She had ear mites and accidentally scratched her eye trying to get to her ear.  Dr. Sallee prescribed the exact meds needed for Baby’s recovery.  We took her back to the hospital 2 weeks later, her eye had healed and the ear mites were gone.  We think Dr. Sallee is great and very skilled.  We will always bring our Baby to Dr. Sallee

Gato

Meet Gato the best cat ever.  When I saw her tail dragging instead of up in the air waving as usual I became immediately worried.  Upon inspecting her tail I realized it was swollen.  I thought it was broken and could not imagine how she broke it.

I called Cherokee Hospital for Animals and told them I thought Gato had broke her tail.  The receptionist set-up an appointment for me to bring Gato in to see Dr. Sallee.  After the exam Dr. Sallee informed me her tail was not broke but injured.  She had an abscess at the base of her tail.  Dr. Sallee with the assistance of her technician cleaned, flushed and medicated the area.  She also gave her an injection and two medications for me to give at home.

It has been two weeks now and Gato is waving her tail high again.  Thanks to the Staff at Cherokee Hospitals for Animals.

Ollie

Meet Ollie my furry child.  A few days before Thanksgiving I noticed him going to his litter box more often than normal.  I decided to take him to see Dr. Simpkins at Cherokee Hospital for Animals.  She ran a urinalysis and his results showed an infection was present.  Ollie was sent home with antibiotics.  A couple days later Ollie would growl when I touched his rear quarters.  I could tell he was in pain.  I called Dr. Simpkins, she told me Ollie needed to come back to the hospital.  He was X-rayed and diagnosed with bladder stones.  Dr. Simpkins performed surgery to remove the stones.  She also started him on a special food to help prevent more stones from forming.

The concern Dr. Simpkins showed to Ollie and me was wonderful.  She answered all my questions and was very reassuring.  Once again he is back to being playful and happy.

Belle

It aint easy being me, and my Mommy is all too aware.  We’ve been through it all including being shot, fought, or suffering from any number of the unforeseeable health issues.  If it wasn’t for my loving Mother and the caring staff at Cherokee Hospital for Animals my time on Earth would have been shortened, but ya know what they say about cats, “we have nine lives”!  I’ve lost count, personally, but no doubt I’m grateful for my continued existence, as is my mother.

We’re the best of buds and, love her soul, my poor Mamma thought it was all she wrote for yours truly.  I hated seeing the pain in my Mamma’s eyes, but the most recent health issue, a tumor, was quickly discovered and now, as they say, “I’m outta th’ woods”!  I can’t say enough about how well Cherokee Hospital for Animals’ staff kept my Mom and I informed, but more importantly how sincerely concerned they truly were.  The talented and caring Dr. Sallee certainly runs a tight ship!  Mom and I are both more than pleased and profoundly thankful!

Wee Man

Recently my Wee Man was diagnosed with hypothyroidism.  Already overweight, Wee Man wasn’t looking so ‘wee’ anymore, and accord- ing to Dr. Sallee hypothyroidism wasn’t going to make things better.  Dr. Sallee explained how weight issues would lead to other issues in the future and that it would be best to bring down Wee Man’s weight.  She also provided Wee Man with the necessary medication in order to combat the hypothyroidism.  Thanks to Dr. Sallee’s care, Wee Man has lost weight and has more energy as well!  Not only that, but Wee Man’s smile looks fantastic after the Dental Cleaning that he had!

Wee Man is very important to me, as are all of my dogs, and both Dr. Sallee and Dr. Lapthorne have been very good to my children.  The caring, genuine, attention that Cherokee Hospital for Animals has provided for my dogs has been very welcome.  The entire staff is great!

Jasper

Our Jasper is an important part of our family.  His feisty energy and personality has been a constant joy in our lives.  Unfortunately, Jasper began feeling under the weather and started behaving com- pletely different.  Concerned by the obvious changes in Jasper’s behavior, we took action and presented Jasper’s issues to the Doctor at Cherokee Hospital for Animals.  After the examination, Jasper was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection, along with thyroid problems.  Fortunately for Jasper, his Doctor prescribed the necessary medication and much to our satisfaction Jasper is already behaving like the boy we all know and adore.  What we appreciated most was his Doctor’s prompt follow-up call; it was clear to our family that there was sincere concern for our Jasper and that meant the world to us.
